MARTIN HUNT AND HIS SHOCKING CHILD ABUSE IN ESSEX
A man identified as Martin Hunt has been convicted and sentenced for heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a young girl in Essex.The charges stemmed from a disturbing investigation that uncovered his reprehensible activities and the possession of indecent material involving children.
Hunt, aged 24 and residing in Frinton, Essex, was found guilty of multiple offences including the sexual assault of a one-year-old girl and the distribution of child pornography.
The case came to light after Hunt's criminal record was unintentionally exposed during a house move.
When Hunt relocated to a new residence, the new homeowners made a shocking discovery: a disc hidden beneath a kitchen unit containing images and videos of Hunt engaging in sexually abusive conduct towards children.
This discovery prompted them to alert authorities immediately.
The police response was swift and thorough.
Investigators traced the digital evidence and found that Hunt had also sent these disturbing images and videos via email to another individual known to be involved in child exploitation.
Such behavior demonstrated not only the severity of his criminal acts but also his attempt to share and distribute this material.
At Chelmsford Crown Court, Hunt pleaded guilty to a total of 19 offences.
These included sexual activity with a child, possession of indecent images of children, and the distribution of such material.
The crimes spanned from January 2012 to February 2014, with the most active period estimated to be over three or four months, beginning in December 2012.
Judge Patricia Lynch QC sentenced Hunt to an extended period of imprisonment for public protection, reflecting the gravity of his offences.
She emphasized the importance of public safety and expected Hunt to serve a significant portion of his sentence before he becomes eligible for parole.
Specifically, he must serve two-thirds of the 12-year sentence behind bars.
Following his release, Hunt will be subject to a period of license for eight years, during which he can be recalled to prison if necessary, and he will remain under supervision to prevent any further offences.
During sentencing, Judge Lynch made a pointed remark to Hunt about the profound shame of his actions.
She stated, "From now on every time you look at your reflection in the mirror, every day you will know that you behaved in the most base, despicable and self-serving manner." The judge also noted that Hunt displayed minimal remorse for his crimes, highlighting the need for a lengthy prison term to protect society from his dangerous behavior.
