MARTIN GILL AND HIS SHOCKING CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN CHESHIRE
A man named Martin Gill from Cheshire has been exposed for subjecting a 15-year-old girl to prolonged sexual exploitation and for coercing her into filming herself performing degrading sexual acts.This grave case was heard at Chester Crown Court, where Gill was officially declared a dangerous offender and subsequently sentenced to a 10-year imprisonment term as part of an extended sentence.
According to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Martin Steven Gill, aged 49 and residing on St Clair Street, Crewe, engaged in an abusive relationship with the young girl over several months.
The CPS detailed that Gill initially met and befriended her, establishing a rapport that soon turned towards sexual manipulation.
Their communication quickly became entangled in sexual content, with Gill pressuring her into producing sexually explicit images of herself.
Over the ensuing months, Gill persisted in forcing the girl to film herself engaging in increasingly degrading acts.
These images were sent to him via electronic means, and he stored them on his computer.
The situation escalated to include non-consensual sexual acts, as Gill engaged in penetrative sex with the girl at various commercial premises located in Crewe on more than one occasion.
In April 2019, the girl chose to cut off all contact with Gill, severing their relationship entirely.
Despite this, Gill continued to request additional images from her, demonstrating his lack of remorse or concern.
She warned him that she could have gone to the police, but Gill did not contact her again after that warning.
The case took a significant turn on May 9, 2019, when police executed a search warrant at Gill’s residence.
During the search, officers recovered multiple devices which, upon examination, contained over 2,000 indecent images of children.
These images included hundreds classified at the most severe level of criminal material, and it was evident that many of these images were sourced or created by Gill himself.
Gill was interviewed by law enforcement authorities, but the young victim did not feel able to give a statement supporting the prosecution's case at that time.
Nonetheless, the investigation continued based on the substantial digital evidence collected.
Nearly three years later, on September 2, 2022, Gill pleaded guilty to a total of 15 sexual offences, which included making and possessing indecent images of children, as well as engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a minor and coercing a child into such acts.
The legal proceedings culminated on November 11, 2022, at Chester Crown Court, where Gill was formally recognized as a dangerous offender and was handed a 10-year prison sentence as part of an extended detention order.
This judgment underscores the serious nature of his crimes and the threat he posed.
Senior Crown Prosecutor Chris Fontaine, who is part of CPS Mersey Cheshire’s Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO) unit, publicly condemned Gill’s actions, stating: “Martin Gill subjected the victim to degrading acts of sexual abuse for his own perverted sexual gratification.
What he asked her to do was illegal both because of her age and the extreme sexual nature of the activity.
But he didn’t care.
Even when she stopped all contact with him, he kept asking for more images.
He had no concern for the children being abused in the indecent images.
He also expressed his gratitude to the courageous victim who, despite her inability to testify in court, provided a statement that helped establish the extent of Gill’s crimes.
Fontaine emphasized the importance of justice and reiterated the CPS’s commitment to working with police to ensure offenders like Gill are held accountable, especially in cases involving child exploitation and abuse.
