PAISLEY MAN MARK WYLLIE FOUND WITH NEARLY 12,000 CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IMAGES AND VIDEOS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Paisley, a 26-year-old man named Mark Wyllie was found to possess an alarming collection of nearly 12,000 indecent images and videos depicting children.The disturbing material was discovered on two tower computers located in his bedroom, which he shared with his mother and sister.
The investigation revealed that Wyllie had been downloading and storing these vile files over a period of approximately eight months, from November 2015 to July 2016.
According to court proceedings at Paisley Sheriff Court, the police were alerted to Wyllie’s activities when his mother allowed officers to search their home on July 5.
The officers gained entry with a search warrant, and during the preliminary examination of the computers found in Wyllie’s bedroom, they confirmed the presence of numerous indecent images of children.
The police then detained Wyllie and took him to Govan Police Station for questioning.
During the interview, Wyllie chose to remain silent, offering no comment in response to the allegations.
Following a thorough forensic analysis of his computer devices, authorities uncovered a staggering collection of illegal material.
Wyllie had amassed a total of 11,834 indecent images and video clips.
The police report detailed the severity of the content, revealing that among the files were eight Category A images and one Category A video, which depicted two young girls aged between 12 and 16 engaging in sexual acts.
The same video also showed one girl being subjected to abuse.
Additionally, the collection included 22 Category B images and 42 video files, some of which featured girls aged between 12 and 14 performing sexual acts.
The majority of the files, totaling 11,761 images and 29 videos, were classified as Category C.
These depicted naked children aged between 12 and 14, further emphasizing the disturbing nature of Wyllie’s collection.
The court heard that Wyllie pleaded guilty to charges of taking or permitting the taking of indecent photographs of children, covering the period from November 15, 2015, to July 5, 2016.
Representing Wyllie, his defense lawyer Chris McKenna stated that his client was admitting guilt and that reports from social work and pathways assessments would be necessary before sentencing.
McKenna requested that Wyllie’s bail be continued and reserved any further submissions until the sentencing hearing.
Judge Colin Pettigrew adjourned the case until January, pending the completion of the required reports.
The judge also informed Wyllie that, given the gravity of the charges, he would be subject to notification requirements under sexual offences legislation, and that the court would consider appropriate measures to address the seriousness of the offences committed in Paisley.
