MARK WALLACE FROM DUNFERMLINE SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IN FIFE AND GLASGOW

A man from Dunfermline, identified as Mark Wallace, has been sentenced to serve eight years in prison after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses committed over a span of 16 years.

The crimes involved the sexual assault of three former partners, with two women being raped and the third subjected to indecent assault.

These disturbing incidents took place across different locations, including Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy in Fife, as well as in the east end of Glasgow, between the years 1999 and 2015.

Wallace, aged 38 at the time of sentencing, faced a high court trial in Livingston where he was found guilty of rape, assault, and indecent assault.

Despite the conviction, Wallace maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings.

The presiding judge, Lord Burns, described the nature of the abuse as relentless and manipulative, emphasizing that Wallace had exerted control and demoralized his victims during the prolonged period of abuse.

The court heard how Wallace’s actions had a profound and lasting impact on those he targeted.

Following his conviction, Wallace was ordered to be supervised for an additional five years upon his release from prison.

Furthermore, he was placed on the sex offenders register for life, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.

During the trial, one of the victims recounted the trauma she endured, stating that “sex without consent could be every other day,” and added, “If I did not, I was going to get a sore face, black eye or something.” Another woman testified that Wallace appeared unconcerned when she told him he had raped her, allegedly responding with, “It couldn’t be?

I’m your boyfriend.” The third victim described how her experiences of indecent assaults gradually felt “normal,” illustrating the normalization of abuse in her mind.

Wallace, during his defense, claimed that the women had fabricated their stories and lied about him.

It was also revealed that Wallace is currently in a new relationship and has recently married, despite the ongoing legal proceedings and his past convictions.

Police Scotland’s Detective Inspector Hannah Morrison commented on the case, stating, “Over the course of 16 years, Mark Wallace subjected these women to prolonged periods of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse.

He has demonstrated himself to be a callous and predatory individual with no remorse for the impact his crimes have had on his victims.

I would like to commend the outstanding bravery of these women in coming forward to report these crimes, which has been vital in securing these convictions.”
