MARK TRAVESARI, MOSS PIT, STAFFORD: TRAGIC MURDER OF ALISON TRAVESARI
| Red Rose Database
Staffordshire Domestic Homicide
Mark Traversari, described as a sadistic husband, was responsible for the murder of his wife, 26-year-old Alison Traversari. On October 25, 1995, he doused her in petrol and set fire to their home located in Willowmoor, Moss Pit, Stafford. Emergency services arrived to find Traversari outside the house, where he was taken to hospital with minor head injuries. Inside, Alison’s severely burned body was discovered tied up. Two days later, during a police press conference, detectives disclosed that Traversari claimed he had returned from walking the dog to find intruders at the house. This same story was repeated more than a year later when he appeared in Stafford Crown Court, charged with Alison's murder, which occurred after their three-year marriage.
