Farnworth Sexual Abuser
In July 1999, Mark Ryan from Farnworth was sentenced to 18 months in prison for indecent conduct in front of three young girls in Widnes. Judge John Morgan described the incident as 'a nasty incident' and stated that only a custodial sentence was appropriate.
Ryan, aged 37 and residing at Griffin Mews, Farnworth, was convicted of six charges related to indecent assault and indecency with the girls, two aged six and one aged nine. The court was told that the incident took place in Speke while Ryan, a communications engineer, was sitting inside his van.
One of the girls informed her father about the incident, prompting a police investigation. Ryan was subsequently arrested, and during questioning, he denied the allegations.
Throughout his trial, Ryan insisted on his innocence, claiming he was not at the scene. His defence lawyer, Michael Wolff, pointed out that Ryan had no prior convictions of a similar nature.
In addition to his jail time, Ryan was ordered to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offenders Act for the next ten years.
