Evesham Domestic Homicide
In 2016, Mark Pearce, aged 51, was found guilty of the murder of his partner, Julie Hitch, in a highly violent domestic incident at their flat in Evesham. Pearce pleaded guilty at Worcester Crown Court to the murder, which West Mercia Police described as a "brutal attack." The victim, 53-year-old Julie Hitch, was discovered dead during a police call-out on April 15. Authorities concluded she died from a cardiac arrest caused by the assault. Pearce confessed to police that the attack was of the utmost severity and directly contributed to her death. He was sentenced to serve a minimum of 16 and a half years behind bars. The police characterized the event as stemming from an argument between the couple, labeling it as domestic violence of the highest order with tragic outcomes. Following his guilty plea, the court imposed a life sentence, with Pearce required to serve at least 16.5 years before being eligible for parole.
