In January, a man accused of rape was sentenced after claiming he was suffering from 'sexsomnia' during the attack on a sleeping woman.
Mark Hart maintained that he was unconscious at the time of the assault and had no memory of it.
Teesside Crown Court was told that the victim awoke to find Hart, aged 33, engaging in sexual activity with her.
Although Hart, from North Row, Lazenby, denied committing rape, the jury found him guilty after deliberation.
He received a sentence of nine years in prison from Judge James Brown and was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely.
