DRUNK DAD HELD KNIFE TO PARTNER'S THROAT AND WAS SENTENCED TO PRISON
A drunken father, Mark Green, held a knife to his partner’s throat and threatened to kill her, according to court reports.
The incident occurred at their home in Tolson Crescent, Dalton, in the early hours of February 8.
Green, 34, pleaded guilty to making threats to kill and two charges of beating the complainant at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court and was bailed to Crosland Moor.
The court heard that the couple had been in a relationship for 10 years, living together with children.
On the night of the incident, Green became aggressive after the partner mentioned ending the relationship.
He pulled at her clothes, accused her of having another man, and armed himself with a large kitchen knife, forcing her against the cooker and pushing the knife into her chest.
He left scratch marks on her skin, punched her, and threatened her life, even pulling out a clump of her hair.
Their daughters, aged 8 and 10, were present and screaming during the attack.
Green was arrested after intervention from bystanders.
The court sentenced him to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, with requirements for 30 days of rehabilitation and ordered to pay £200 costs and victim surcharge.
For the other two offences, he received additional four-week prison sentences, also suspended.
