CHESTERFIELD'S MARK FRISBY CAUGHT IN SEXUAL CHAT SCANDAL WITH UNDERAGE GIRL
In January 2023, a disturbing case emerged involving Mark Frisby, a 52-year-old man from Chesterfield, who engaged in a series of inappropriate and illegal online communications with a girl he believed was only 14 years old. The incident highlighted the dangers of online grooming and the serious consequences faced by offenders.Frisby, who was employed as a doorman in Chesterfield, initiated contact with the underage girl through a chat website. Over a span of ten days, the conversations between them escalated from casual exchanges about the weather to highly sexualized messages. During this period, Frisby exchanged personal contact details with the girl and continued their interaction over WhatsApp, where he sent explicit photographs of himself and made numerous inappropriate requests.
According to court reports, Frisby told the girl he needed to take a shower to reduce swelling from his shorts, a comment that was clearly sexual in nature. He also asked her for a quick flash of her breasts, inquired whether she was wearing underwear, and questioned her about her sexual experience. At one point, he implied that if anyone checked her messages, he would be exposed as a paedophile, revealing his awareness of the illicit nature of his actions.
Throughout the exchanges, Frisby sent explicit images of himself, claiming he was in bed with his hands down his shorts. He also requested a sexually explicit video from the girl, further demonstrating his intent to exploit her. These messages were part of a pattern of grooming behavior that aimed to arouse a sexual response from the young girl.
Unbeknownst to Frisby, the girl he was communicating with was actually an undercover police officer. The authorities were alerted to his activities, leading to his arrest. Frisby, who resides on Chapel Road in Grassmoor, was charged with attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and attempting to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity.
During the court proceedings at Derby Crown Court, prosecutor Eunice Gedzah outlined the details of the case. She explained that the offending took place in October and November of 2021. Frisby’s actions were deemed highly inappropriate and criminal, given the significant age disparity and his intent to sexually exploit a minor.
In his sentencing, Recorder Balraj Bhatia KC acknowledged the gravity of the offense. Frisby was handed a one-year prison sentence, which was suspended for two years. The judge emphasized that despite being a father of two and having children himself, Frisby’s actions demonstrated a blatant disregard for the law and the safety of minors. The court also ordered Frisby to complete 100 hours of unpaid work, attend 30 rehabilitation sessions, and pay £360 in prosecution costs.
Furthermore, Frisby was placed on the sex offender register for a period of ten years and was issued a ten-year sexual harm prevention order. These measures are designed to monitor and restrict his activities to prevent any future offenses. The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by online predators and the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable minors from exploitation.
