Shrewsbury Rapist
Mark Davis, a convicted paedophile, has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars for the sexual assault and raping of a child. The 42-year-old was convicted at a trial held at Shrewsbury Crown Court in August. In addition to the rape charge, Davis had previously admitted to sexual assault and producing indecent images of children.

His sentence was officially handed down on November 8, 2024, during which the court also imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order. Davis is required to remain on the sex offenders’ register for the rest of his life.

DC Emma Owen from West Mercia Police, who led the investigation, stated, “Davis is, by his own admission during his trial, a paedophile. He’s a danger to children and I’m pleased that he will now spend a significant amount of time in prison.”

She also praised the courage of the victim for coming forward, acknowledging that this was a critical step that ultimately resulted in Davis’s sentencing and the removal of any chance he might harm other children. Emphasizing the importance of reporting abuse, she added, “I hope this case shows that we can and do take action against perpetrators of child sexual abuse. I would always urge anyone who has been a victim to speak to us. We will listen and you will be believed.”
