MARK COOK OF DUNFERMLINE SENTENCED FOR THREATS AND KNIFE INCIDENTS

A man from Dunfermline, Mark Cook, 30, of Hawkiesfauld Way, has been sentenced to jail after sending threatening messages to his former partner and being found in possession of a knife shortly after leaving a pub.

Cook appeared before Dunfermline Sheriff Court and admitted that on 14th September last year, at Targate Road, Milesmark, he left a voicemail containing threatening comments directed at his ex-partner.

Although he had previously been placed on a community payback order for this offence, he breached it.

The messages included phrases such as, “I’ll f ****** see you the morra and your boyfriend,” “Just wait until I see you.

Karma is coming for you, f ****** rat,” and “All your days are coming.

I’ll f ****** break you.” Cook later told police he had been drinking, had taken drugs, and could not recall sending the calls.

Additionally, Cook admitted to being unlawfully in possession of a knife on 29th June at East Baldridge Drive, Dunfermline.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf explained that police received information at 6.55pm that Cook was in a pub with a knife.

Officers located him standing at a bus stop and discovered he had a kitchen knife on him, which he claimed was for self-defence because people were actively looking for him.

Defence solicitor Stephen Morrison remarked, “He was keeping bad company.

He had fallen out with people who were going to do him harm, which led to the utter folly of him having the knife.” Sheriff Susan Duff highlighted Cook’s conduct during a call to a social worker, noting that he was shouting and swearing, and was threatening the female social worker during her work.

Describing his client as “quick to anger and struggles to regulate his emotions,” Sheriff Duff told Cook that such behaviour would not be tolerated.

As a result, Cook was sentenced to 10 months in jail.
