NOTTINGHAM MAN JAILED FOR CHILD RAPE AND SEXUAL ABUSE
A man has been sentenced to a 13-year prison term after being convicted of multiple sexual offences against a young girl.Marian-Darius Neagu, aged 32, was found guilty of raping the underage victim on several occasions, sexually touching her, sending her photographs of his private parts, and requesting similar photos from her.
Nottingham Crown Court was told that Neagu also engaged in grooming behaviors, including playing hide and seek during which he sexually touched her.
The victim’s mother described the profound impact of his acts, stating that Neagu 'took away her innocence' and caused her to feel broken.
The court heard that the sexual abuse came to light in the summer of last year, leading to police investigation.
The prosecution detailed how Neagu asked the girl, 'Do you want to be my woman?' and 'act like I am your man', and showed her explicit images, asking for photos in return.
Neagu's guilty pleas led to a conviction that resulted in him being sentenced to 12 years in custody and a one-year extended license, with a lifetime sex offender register requirement and a sexual harm prevention order.
The judge emphasized the depravity of his actions, highlighting that he 'tried to shush her' and' told her not to tell anyone'.
Neagu, of Ilkeston Road, Stapleford, did not have any previous criminal convictions.
His legal representative acknowledged his remorse and shame, and the court also noted that he had been remanded for five months while seeking to address his offending behavior.
