MAREK SWISTAK FROM MANCHESTER SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF SCHOOLGIRL IN BOLTON
In January 2021, a disturbing case of sexual abuse involving a Polish national named Marek Swistak came to light, revealing a pattern of predatory behavior that culminated in a severe legal sentence.Swistak, aged 53 and residing in Manchester, was found guilty of a series of heinous crimes committed against a young girl, with the incidents taking place in Bolton.
According to court reports, Swistak engaged in a prolonged campaign of grooming and sexual assault against the victim.
The court heard that he used manipulative tactics to gain her trust, including encouraging her to consume alcohol to the point of memory loss.
On one particular occasion, the girl was forced to drink so much that she woke up with no recollection of what had transpired, leaving her traumatized and confused.
During the trial at Bolton Crown Court, prosecutor Julian Goode detailed the extent of Swistak’s misconduct.
He explained that the Polish national had not only sexually assaulted the girl but also recorded her on his phone without her consent.
The court was told that Swistak threatened the victim, warning her that if she ever disclosed the abuse, “no one would believe her,” a tactic designed to silence her and maintain control.
It was also revealed that Swistak frequently contacted the girl via text messages, which caused her ongoing distress.
The sound of message alerts haunted her, serving as a constant reminder of the abuse.
The victim provided a heartfelt statement, describing how the trauma has severely impacted her mental health.
She reported suffering from low confidence, diminished self-esteem, mood swings, and a loss of appetite.
She expressed that she could “never forget” what Swistak had done to her, underscoring the lasting damage inflicted.
Swistak, who had no prior criminal record, was convicted on multiple charges following a jury trial in October of the previous year.
The charges included causing a child to engage in sexual activity, two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child under 16, penetrative sexual activity with a child under 16, two counts of making indecent photographs of a child, four counts of sexual assault of a child under 16, and sexual assault by penetration of a child under 16.
Keith Harrison, representing Swistak, described him as being of “hitherto good character,” emphasizing his background as the former owner of Magimark Polish grocery store in Manchester.
Despite this, the court was told that Swistak’s actions were deeply predatory and caused significant harm.
Judge Martin Walsh, presiding over the case, sentenced Swistak to 13 years in prison.
In his remarks, the judge condemned the defendant’s behavior as “predatory” and expressed disappointment that Swistak showed no remorse or acknowledgment of the severity of his crimes.
The judge also issued a restraining order, prohibiting Swistak from contacting the victim, and imposed a sexual harm prevention order.
Additionally, Swistak was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct.
