MARCUS COLLINS JAIL SENTENCE IN GUILDFORD FOR SURREY TEEN VICTIMS

A man from Surrey, Marcus Collins, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after being convicted of multiple offences involving three teenage girls.

Collins, aged 22 and residing at Canterbury Gardens in Farnborough and Furze Close in Redhill, appeared at Guildford Crown Court on Friday, January 28, where he received his sentence for crimes including rape, sexual assault, assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour.

The misconduct occurred between 2018 and 2020, with victims aged 16, 17, and 18 at the time.

Collins was first arrested on January 8, 2020, and faced charges for assault along with controlling and coercive behaviour.

During the investigation, allegations from his first victim regarding rape were examined.

In February 2020, a second victim contacted Surrey Police, revealing that Collins had assaulted, raped, and exerted control over her from September 2018 to January 2020.

In the same month, a third girl came forward, accusing Collins of rape, sexual assault, strangulation, and control.

On March 16, 2020, Collins was re-arrested for these additional crimes and was formally charged on August 26, 2020, with multiple rapes, sexual assault by penetration, controlling and coercive behaviour, and various assaults causing actual bodily harm.

Detective Constable Nicky Dell, who led the investigation, stated: "Collins treated these three young women with incomprehensible violence and threatening behaviour over a long period of time.

He repeatedly raped and assaulted them, threatened to shoot them, and used various weapons against them." She further explained, "He controlled them by forcing them to block friends and family on social media, dictated their choice of clothing and makeup, and prohibited socializing with friends.

The messages recovered from their phones were threatening, vile, and utterly appalling.

I want to commend all three women for their immense courage in speaking out and providing evidence; their bravery has undoubtedly prevented other women from suffering similar crimes." DC Dell also urged potential victims to come forward, saying: "We believe there may be other victims and I urge them to contact Surrey Police or the East Surrey Domestic Abuse Service (ESDAS) at 01737 771350 or via email." One of the victims, reflecting on her experience, shared: "Even two and a half years later, I am reminded daily of the cruelty I faced at Collins' hands.

I become anxious in public, worried about being attacked again.

Marcus enjoyed attacking me both publicly and privately.

These were often prolonged assaults while people watched, but very few offered help.

I was kicked, jumped on, punched, and shouted at.

Once, Marcus told me, ‘Look, no one cares about you,’ before punching me and laughing at the onlookers.” She added, "Victims might decline help due to fear of further violence or manipulation, making it difficult to see a way out.

Support and intervention are vital for mental health during and after such situations." Her mother expressed gratitude: "I want to thank Surrey Police, especially DC Dell, for her dedication and support.

Collins transformed my daughter from a confident girl into a shell of her former self.

No one should endure such suffering, and now that he's in prison, we hope the girls can rebuild their lives safely." Another victim also praised the assistance received from ESDAS: "I am incredibly thankful for the support, kindness, and advice from ESDAS throughout this entire ordeal.

Their help kept me strong, and I am forever grateful."
