2013: HALESOWEN SEX ATTACKER JAILED
A woman in her senior years was assaulted sexually by Marcus Basterfield, a 22-year-old man from Halesowen.Basterfield was intoxicated with drugs and alcohol during the incident and had no recollection of it.
At Wolverhampton Crown Court, it was presented that he exposed himself to the woman, made lewd comments, and then physically grabbed her, assaulting her sexually while she was out walking her dog.
He received a four-year prison sentence after admitting to charges of indecent exposure and three sexual assault offenses.
Additionally, the judge ordered him to be placed on the sex offender register for life.
Basterfield explained to police that he could not remember the incident due to substance consumption the previous night.
The victim struggled and asked him to leave her alone, and he apologized and accepted responsibility, but then assaulted her again before fleeing.
A man who heard her scream later identified him and reported him to the authorities.
