MARCELINO GONCALVES FROM ACTON SENTENCED FOR MULTIPLE OFFENCES
A 55-year-old man named Marcelino Goncalves, from Acton, has been arrested and convicted after being identified as a high-harm offender and a persistent abuser.
He was convicted on Friday, March 22, of charges including rape, assault by beating, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, stalking, and controlling coercive behaviour.
Goncalves attracted police attention when a member of the public witnessed him assaulting a woman known to him.
The victim later revealed her extensive history of abuse, which included threats at her home, burning her with a cigarette for refusing sex, and punching her in the face.
Even while on remand, Goncalves continued to harass her by making 15 calls from prison.
However, enhanced management measures within the prison system were eventually able to prevent further harassment once it was reported.
Goncalves is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday, June 7.
