MARC MCKILLOP SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON FOR BRUTAL SEX ATTACKS IN MORAY AND ABERDEEN
A violent sex attacker who terrorized six young women over a period of seven years has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.Painter Marc McKillop, 27, from Rothes, Moray, was convicted of multiple serious offences including raping one woman and attempting to murder another by grabbing her by the hair and dragging her downstairs.
He also attacked a woman while she was breastfeeding her baby, put a belt around another woman's neck and choked her until she believed she was going to die.
The court heard that McKillop’s assaults included grabbing victims by the neck, thrusting fingers into one woman’s eyes, placing a pillow over a woman's head, and striking a victim in the chest with a car key, causing scarring.
Judge Lady Scott described his actions as a "storm of violence" inflicted upon his victims.
McKillop denied the allegations, claiming all his victims were lying; however, he was found guilty of 21 offences, including attempted murder, rape, indecent assault, assault causing permanent disfigurement, and assault with intent to cause a danger of death.
He was acquitted of one additional rape charge with a not proven verdict.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard that the victims suffered from profound depression, with some experiencing suicidal thoughts following the attacks.
McKillop will be supervised for three years after his release and has been placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
During mitigation, his lawyer noted that he has a good work ethic.
