LONG EATON MAN JAILED FOR BREACHING RESTRAINING ORDER AFTER ATTACKING HIS MUM
A Long Eaton man was found hiding in his mum's wardrobe after breaking a restraining order that was put in place for attacking her three times.Marc Betts, 47, of Northcote Street in Long Eaton, pleaded guilty to breaching his restraining order at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
The order had been active until October 24, 2022, and Betts had just come out of prison when he breached it - as reported by Derbyshire Live.
Police were called on December 12 at around five to four in the afternoon after a neighbour reported the defendant was at the cottages.
Officers entered the address with the mother’s permission and found Betts hiding in a wardrobe.
He was arrested and answered no comment during police interviews.
The prosecutor Lynn Bickley noted that Betts's previous convictions are not pleasant and emphasized the breach of the restraining order, which he knew he should not have violated.
His solicitor, Nick Wenden, said Betts wanted to make amends after just being released from prison.
District judge Jonathan Taaffe sentenced Betts to 26 weeks in jail and ordered him to pay a £122 victim surcharge.
