MANTAS VANAGAS SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IN MILTON KEYNES AND PAISLEY
A man named Mantas Vanagas has been sentenced to serve a minimum of ten years in prison after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses and acts of domestic abuse.The crimes, which spanned over a period of 16 months, involved four male victims and took place across different locations, including Kirkintilloch, Paisley, and Milton Keynes.
Vanagas, aged 27 and residing in Milton Keynes, was found guilty of four separate charges following a trial held at the High Court in Paisley on November 26, 2024.
The court heard harrowing details of his conduct, which included both physical violence and psychological torment directed at his victims.
The victims, who displayed remarkable bravery in recounting their experiences, described Vanagas as a “dangerous and predatory individual,” a characterization echoed by the prosecution.
Katrina Parkes, the procurator fiscal responsible for High Court Sexual Offences, emphasized during proceedings in Edinburgh that Vanagas demonstrated a blatant disregard for the well-being of those he targeted.
She highlighted that his offending began in 2021, with incidents occurring at various addresses in Kirkintilloch and Paisley.
During this period, he targeted a former partner, subjecting him to degrading remarks, threats of self-harm, and refusing to leave the victim’s residence.
Vanagas also made disturbing comments about rape, further illustrating his predatory nature.
One particularly violent incident involved Vanagas pushing the victim onto a bed, then grabbing him by the neck and choking him.
Additional acts of violence included biting the man on his neck and throwing a shoe at him, actions that underscored the severity of his assault.
Beyond these physical acts, Vanagas was convicted of sexually assaulting two other men and raping a third while he was asleep, rendering the victims unable to give consent.
The court’s judgment resulted in Vanagas receiving a 14-year extended sentence, with a minimum of ten years to be served in custody.
Alongside the sexual assault charges, he was also convicted of domestic abuse.
His name has been permanently added to the sex offenders register, and non-harassment orders have been issued, prohibiting him from contacting or attempting to contact any of the four victims indefinitely.
Katrina Parkes concluded by reaffirming the court’s view of Vanagas as a dangerous individual who showed no regard for the safety or well-being of his victims, emphasizing the importance of the measures taken to protect those affected by his actions.
