Maldon sex offender Mamumroshid Miah jailed for assault and false imprisonment

MALDON SEX OFFENDER MAMUMROSHID MIAH JAILED FOR ASSAULT AND FALSE IMPRISONMENT

On February 1st, Mamumroshid Miah of Maldon was detained by authorities after allegations surfaced that he had engaged in repeated sexual violence during 2023.

The accusations included unlawfully imprisoning a teenage girl and assaulting another girl.

Miah consistently denied these allegations during police questioning and was identified by the Essex Police’s Domestic Abuse Investigation Team on 29 January.

The 34-year-old, registered as a sex offender, subsequently admitted to breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order twice—once on December 16, 2023, and again on January 28, 2024.

He, however, contested three other charges involving false imprisonment and common assault against two girls, opting to proceed with a trial.

During a trial held at Chelmsford Crown Court, evidence indicated that Miah kept the girl confined at his residence, confiscated her phone, and limited her communication with family members, permitting her to leave only the next morning with his authorization.

On August 13, 2024, he was convicted of all three charges.

The court handed down a sentence of three years’ imprisonment for all offenses.

The judge highlighted the seriousness of Miah’s actions, describing him as a significant threat to the community and stressing the necessity of protecting the public from further harm due to his conduct.
