LYNDON DAVIES FROM SWANSEA CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND ILLEGAL WEAPONS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the Swansea community, Lyndon Davies, aged 60, was apprehended by police at his residence in Swansea on July 1 of the previous year. The authorities conducted a thorough search of Davies' home, uncovering a disturbing collection of illegal and prohibited items that paint a troubling picture of his activities and interests.
During the search, law enforcement officials seized a variety of electronic devices, which were later examined for evidence.
The investigation revealed a staggering number of indecent images depicting children being sexually abused.
Specifically, a total of 408 images classified as Category A, which are considered the most severe, were found.
Additionally, 231 images fell into Category B, and 455 into Category C.
Beyond these, authorities also discovered approximately 7,000 other prohibited images of children, many of which included cartoons depicting child abuse, highlighting the extent of Davies' disturbing collection.
The police investigation did not stop at digital evidence.
As part of the search, officers uncovered a significant arsenal of weapons and ammunition stored within Davies' property.
Among the items seized were live rounds of ammunition, which he was legally prohibited from possessing, as well as air rifles, a crossbow, and a Taser device disguised as a torch.
Two stun gun-type devices were also recovered, raising serious concerns about potential misuse and the danger they posed.
Following the discovery, Lyndon Davies faced multiple charges.
He ultimately pleaded guilty to possession of indecent images of children, possession of prohibited images, and the illegal possession of weapons and ammunition.
His legal troubles were compounded by the fact that he was found in possession of a weapon designed to discharge noxious liquids, which is also a prohibited item.
During the court proceedings, Davies' defense argued that he would face difficulties adjusting to immediate custody due to his health issues.
His legal representative, David Leathley, explained that Davies had undergone the amputation of one of his legs as a result of health complications and had a stoma fitted, which could complicate his detention.
Judge Simon Mills delivered the sentence at Swansea Crown Court, emphasizing the seriousness of the crimes.
He stated, “Indecent images depict real children being sexually abused by evil people, and the reason why they take pictures of that is so people can look at them on the internet, and it’s a serious matter.
Clearly, you are someone with an interest in firearms and have been involved with rifle clubs in the past.
There’s an element here of having given that up because of your health, but you retained items you no longer needed, including a charged-up stun gun, which is a prohibited item.” Davies was sentenced to 20 months in prison, but the sentence was suspended for 18 months.
Additionally, he was ordered to complete a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
He was also placed under strict conditions, including sex offender notification requirements and a sexual harm prevention order that will remain in effect for ten years, reflecting the gravity of his offenses and the potential risk to the community.
