Banbury Rapist
A man who deceived a woman into entering his residence before raping her with a knife at her threat has been sentenced to prison. Luke Wickham, aged 24, received a jail sentence of 10 years and six months at Oxford Crown Court after admitting to the crime committed in Banbury on 17 July. Wickham had approached the woman on the street and claimed that his son had fallen and was unconscious. Once she was inside his house, the victim attempted to escape but he grabbed her and assaulted her. Detective Constable Bryan Groves commented: "This was an extremely frightening ordeal for the victim, who, despite the trauma endured, managed to report the incident to police leading to Wickham's swift arrest. He is evidently a threat to public safety." Wickham was sentenced to serve ten and a half years in prison, with an additional four years on licence.
