Worthing Sexual Abuser
In a disturbing series of incidents that took place in Guildford, a man from Worthing named Luke Murdoch, aged 26, has been convicted and sentenced for multiple voyeuristic acts targeting young girls in public restrooms. The crimes, which spanned over several months, involved invasive filming and photographing in sensitive locations, leading to a significant police investigation and subsequent legal action.

On May 20, 2019, authorities responded to reports at the Spectrum Leisure Centre in Guildford, where a teenage girl, only 15 years old, had witnessed a man placing a camera phone beneath the cubicle she was using in the female toilets. The girl quickly alerted her sister, and the incident was promptly reported to the facility's staff. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, the staff contacted the police, initiating an investigation into the suspect's activities.

Later that year, on October 23, 2019, another alarming incident occurred at a Burger King located within Ladymead Retail Park in Guildford. An 11-year-old girl, who had entered the restroom, was followed by a man who then proceeded to photograph her while she was on the toilet. The young girl managed to report the incident to restaurant staff, who immediately called the police. These repeated offenses prompted a wider investigation into the suspect's identity.

Following the incidents, Surrey Police launched an appeal to the public, circulating CCTV footage of the suspect in an effort to identify him. The images were shared through various media outlets and on Surrey Police’s official social media channels. The public response was instrumental in leading to Murdoch’s arrest on December 17, 2019. He was subsequently charged with multiple counts of voyeurism.

Further forensic analysis of Murdoch’s phone after his arrest revealed additional disturbing content. Investigators uncovered numerous voyeuristic images of adult women, many of which appeared to have been taken in various public toilets, indicating a pattern of invasive behavior extending beyond the initial incidents involving minors.

On March 11, 2021, Luke Murdoch was brought before Guildford Crown Court, where he was sentenced to nine months in prison. Additionally, he was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that will remain in effect for ten years. Such orders are designed to protect the public by restricting the individual’s activities and are enforced strictly; any breach of the order can result in a prison sentence of up to five years. The case highlights the importance of vigilance and swift police action in addressing sexual misconduct in public spaces, especially involving vulnerable minors.
