Luke Jones, aged 30, of Swansea, was described in court as having a history of previous convictions related to his former partners, including charges of harassment and assault. His latest relationship, which began in November 2022, initially appeared to be a normal romantic connection but quickly took a dark turn as Jones' suspicions and possessiveness grew unchecked.

According to the prosecution, Jones became increasingly obsessive, monitoring his partner’s phone and social media accounts to scrutinize her interactions with others. His behavior was characterized by relentless accusations, including claims that she was unfaithful. In a particularly bizarre twist, Jones accused her of cheating with her own mother, a claim that underscored the extent of his paranoia and irrationality.

The situation worsened during a holiday to Spain, where Jones’s controlling tendencies manifested through constant video calls, as he repeatedly checked her location and activities.
