LEICESTER MAN JAILED FOR A LONG HISTORY OF DOMESTIC ABUSE AND COERCIVE BEHAVIOUR
A man Luke Crewse-Foster repeatedly attacked his girlfriend and punched her in front of their child.Crewse-Foster, who is a scaffolding company owner, had previously been convicted of battery against the woman in 2020, yet their relationship persisted.
He also banned her from social media, prohibited her from being around other men, and assaulted her multiple times, punching and kicking her.
The police were called in May after Crewse-Foster threw a phone at her during an attack at their home.
At Leicester Crown Court, prosecutor Samantha Warner highlighted that initially the relationship was good, but as time went on, paranoia and abuse set in.
She described how Crewse-Foster started to isolate her and physically abuse her, even becoming angry when her focus was on their daughter instead of him.
A recording was played where Crewse-Foster was shouting at her and hitting her, with their upset toddler audible in the background.
Following his arrest, he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and using controlling and coercive behaviour from April 2024 to May 2025.
The court heard that the abuse had been ongoing much longer, as evidenced by photos of her injuries from previous attacks, including facial cuts and bruises.
During sentencing, Recorder Richard Davis KC noted that the behaviour was unacceptable in a civilized society, particularly as a child was present during at least one incident.
Crewse-Foster pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years in prison.
The judge refused to issue a restraining order because the woman still wanted to be with him.
