LUIZ DA SILVA NETO GUILTY OF SEXUAL ASSAULT AND DRUGGING IN LONDON AND OXFORDSHIRE
In a case that has shocked the local communities and raised serious concerns about personal safety, Luiz Da Silva Neto, a 36-year-old man from Wandsworth, London, has been found guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting two men in separate incidents that took place at a cottage in Middle Barton, Oxfordshire. The events occurred during the months of November and December of the previous year, and the court proceedings have brought to light disturbing details about the offender's actions.
According to the evidence presented at Oxford Crown Court, both victims were subjected to drug-facilitated sexual assaults after being administered an illicit substance, believed to be GHB or GHL, which are known for their euphoric and hallucinogenic effects.
Prosecutor Matthew Walsh explained that Da Silva Neto admitted to using these substances recreationally himself, and he was accused of lacing the victims' drinks with the drugs without their knowledge.
These substances are particularly insidious because they are colorless, odorless, dissolve easily into liquids, and are rapidly absorbed by the body, making detection difficult.
The first victim, who had traveled to the cottage to work with Da Silva Neto, consumed alcohol with him and shortly afterward began to feel an overwhelming sense of fatigue.
He fell asleep fully clothed but awoke to find himself naked and unable to move, experiencing what he described as a paralysis-like state.
During this time, he was subjected to sexual assault.
The following morning, he felt physically and emotionally shattered.
Upon leaving the property, he noticed an empty syringe and became convinced that he had been drugged.
The jury found that Da Silva Neto had intentionally administered a substance to incapacitate the man, enabling sexual activity without his consent.
The second victim's ordeal was equally harrowing.
He had been at a nightclub in London and was recently married.
Da Silva Neto drove him in a hire car from London to Oxfordshire.
The next morning, around 10:00 AM, the man awoke in a strange house, naked, with no memory of what had transpired.
He was confused, distressed, and upset, and he returned home to London in a state of shock.
It was later revealed that he had been reported missing, and he could not account for the hours between leaving the nightclub and waking up in the cottage.
Evidence showed that Da Silva Neto had raped him, administered a drug to facilitate sexual activity, and engaged him in sexual acts without his consent.
However, he was cleared of additional charges such as kidnapping and attempting to kidnap with the intent of committing a sexual offence outside the nightclub.
Throughout the trial, Da Silva Neto maintained that all sexual contact with the victims was consensual and denied ever drugging anyone.
Nevertheless, the jury found sufficient evidence to convict him of administering a substance to stupefy and of sexual assault.
The victims have spoken out about the profound impact of these crimes.
The first victim, who has been diagnosed with PTSD, shared that he has been seeking therapy and counseling since the attack.
He described the experience as the worst he has ever endured and expressed the difficulty of processing what happened, emphasizing his heterosexuality and Catholic faith.
He also condemned Da Silva Neto as a danger to society, asserting that he should be in prison to prevent further harm.
Da Silva Neto is scheduled to be sentenced next Thursday, and the case continues to serve as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by predatory individuals who exploit substances to commit sexual offenses.
The community and authorities remain vigilant, emphasizing the importance of awareness and prevention in safeguarding vulnerable individuals from similar crimes in the future.
