LOUISE RAMSAY OF DUNFERMLINE SENTENCED FOR FRAUD AND ASSAULT
A woman from Dunfermline, Louise Ramsay, 34, of Kellock Avenue, made headlines after a series of criminal offences including theft, fraudulent renting, and public disturbances.Ramsay appeared before Dunfermline Sheriff Court to face multiple charges, having previously admitted to stealing money on three separate occasions—£340 on December 1st of the previous year, £525 on February 12th, and £350 on February 28th of this year.
Additionally, she admitted to sending sexually explicit text messages to a man on March 7th.
On Christmas Eve, Ramsay was involved in a public incident at Abel Place, where she was shouting and swearing while wielding a knife.
Witnesses saw her flinging the knife to the ground and picking it up multiple times during her distress.
The court heard that Ramsay engaged in fraudulent rental schemes by advertising her spare room online.
She would accept deposits from prospective tenants who were not allowed to move in until they repaid her.
Ramsay advertised the room on Craigslist, as well as on Facebook and the 'Spare Room' website.
One victim, a young man, paid for accommodation only to receive unwanted erotic texts from Ramsay afterward.
He felt uncomfortable and asked her to keep things professional.
Instead, she continued sending graphic messages, including comments like, "You’re grown-up for your age but I like that," and boasting about her ability to teach him about his genitalia.
She also made jokes about his genitalia, implying she could teach him a thing or two.
The man demanded his money back, but Ramsay refused, giving various reasons for not doing so.
During the incident on Christmas Eve, Ramsay was seen shouting and screaming in the street, clutching the knife she later threw to the ground.
Defence solicitor Alexander Flett described her as having taken excessive cocaine and feeling she was being followed, stating, "She seems to have got it into her head that she was being followed.
She had taken cocaine to excess.
It’s a fairly sad tale." A social work report recommended that Ramsay be placed in a mental health facility for her own well-being.
However, Sheriff Charles Macnair rejected this suggestion and instead imposed an eight-month restriction of liberty order.
Ramsay was also ordered to pay £900 in damages to three victims affected by her rental fraud and was placed on the sex offenders' registry as part of her sentence.
