MUM NEARLY FAINTED IN HORROR WHEN GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALED NEW BOYFRIEND'S PAST
A mother nearly fainted in shock after discovering her new boyfriend's troubling history through a Google search.
Louis Martin's brief-term partner uncovered that he had provided her with an alias name, which led her to realize he was a convicted rapist.
The sex offender was unable to accept the breakup, subjecting her to weeks of harassment and abuse.
Alarmingly, he even assaulted her in front of her six-year-old daughter.
Liverpool Crown Court was told that Martin had a prior conviction for rape in 2007 and was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely.
In February, he began a relationship with a 26-year-old woman, claiming his name was Louis Bonner.
Although she was initially indifferent, her concerns grew after learning about his criminal past, prompting Martin to persistently contact and threaten her.
He was eventually arrested on May 8.
Martin admitted to charges of controlling or coercive behavior, assault, and failing to inform police of his alias and current address.
He was sentenced to 27 months in prison and received a 10-year restraining order.
The judge noted his previous convictions, controlling conduct, health issues, and remorse.
