LOGAN LORIMER ARBROATH CHILD ABUSE MATERIAL SENT TO UNDERCOVER COPS JAIL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Arbroath, Logan Lorimer, a 23-year-old pharmacy worker, has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of possessing and sharing extremely graphic and illegal child abuse material.
The court proceedings revealed a series of troubling actions carried out by Lorimer, who believed he was communicating with fellow offenders rather than undercover police officers.
In August 2020, Lorimer’s illicit activities came to light when authorities executed a search of his residence on Dalhousie Place, Arbroath.
During the search, his mobile phone was confiscated, and it was confirmed that he had admitted to possessing images of child abuse.
This initial discovery set the stage for a deeper investigation into his online activities.
Subsequently, Lorimer engaged in covert interactions with undercover police officers, believing he was exchanging illicit material with other offenders.
He requested images of what he thought was a 10-year-old girl, but in reality, the individual he was communicating with was an adult who appeared very young.
Lorimer also sent a link containing multiple child pornography images, further demonstrating his involvement in the distribution of such material.
By February, Lorimer had escalated his activities, sending an attachment of approximately 50 megabytes that contained 645 files of indecent images of children.
These images were described by authorities as some of the most extreme and disturbing they had encountered in their investigations.
During this period, he was also in contact with a second undercover officer, sharing a link to over eight hours of vile footage depicting child abuse.
Throughout the investigation, Lorimer admitted to taking or allowing the creation of indecent or pseudo-photographs of children at his residence on Dalhousie Place, Arbroath, between March 1, 2019, and March 1, 2020.
He also confessed to distributing and showing such images from January 20 to February 29 of the same year.
At sentencing, Sheriff Tom Hughes emphasized the gravity of Lorimer’s crimes, stating, “This is not a victimless crime – you used and shared images of horrendous abuse of young children, some of babies, which you yourself contributed to in that as long as people like you are prepared to view them, this will go on.” Lorimer was sentenced to 30 months in prison, with an additional 12-month supervision order, and was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely, marking a severe legal response to his heinous actions.
