LOGAN DONALD AND HIS HORRIFIC CRIMES IN EAST LOTHIAN AND MIDLOTHIAN
A once-trusted children's entertainer, known as the "Demon DJ," has been revealed as a disturbing serial child sex offender after a series of heinous crimes across East Lothian and Midlothian.Logan Donald, who was employed by D3mon Discos in Falkirk, had performed at numerous children's parties throughout central Scotland, gaining the admiration and trust of countless young kids before his true nature was uncovered.
Donald, now 18 years old, was only dismissed from his job after it emerged in reports published by the Daily Record last month that he had targeted three 13-year-old girls through social media platforms in 2020.
His vile campaign involved coercion and threats, including an incident where he manipulated one girl into sending explicit images by threatening to take his own life if she refused.
The trauma inflicted on one of his victims was so severe that she attempted suicide three times, a tragic testament to the impact Donald's exploitation had on her.
This incident unveiled a disturbing fact: Donald had access to thousands of children through his role as a children's disco DJ, a position that allowed him to establish an innocent-seeming facade while secretly grooming and abusing vulnerable minors.
One parent, whose young daughter attended a Christmas party hosted by Donald, expressed her horror upon learning about his crimes.
She stated: “The kids all loved this young DJ, who seemed perfect for the job.
They all looked up to him and were under his spell, and now I just feel sick that he was able to use this deception to gain the trust of innocent children.
She further expressed suspicion and concern, saying, “He’s been convicted of crimes against three young girls, but who knows what other atrocities he might have committed?
Demon DJ doesn’t even do him justice.
He may be young, but he’s a manipulative and controlling beast who terrorized young girls who trusted him.” In court proceedings at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month, Donald admitted to coercing victims into sending him intimate images.
Prosecutors revealed that Donald used tactics such as applying jam to his arms to simulate self-harm, thereby attempting to manipulate and threaten the girls psychologically.
One victim was pressured into sending him a photo in her underwear, with Donald threatening to post her image on social media if she did not comply.
Her compliance was driven by fear, and the campaign of intimidation only ceased when she confided in her parents and police authorities.
Investigators from the cybercrime unit examined Donald’s phone and uncovered a disturbing collection of child abuse videos, many classified at Category A—the most severe level of abuse.
The extent of his online activity was alarming and indicative of a significant criminal pattern.
Following the revelations, Stuart Hall, the owner of D3mon Discos, publicly expressed his outrage and regret.
Hall, who established the entertainment company in Tullibody near Alloa in 2016, disclosed that he only became aware of Donald’s criminal conduct after the details were published by the Daily Record.
Hall explained that he had been informed by a relative that Donald had been involved in sending text messages but had not been informed of the more serious allegations involving sexual threats and possession of pornography.
Hall admitted his frustration and anger at being kept in the dark, stating: “I’m furious I was left in the dark and his family allowed him to keep working at discos, knowing what he was capable of.
I just wish I had known earlier.” In response to the scandal, Hall issued a strongly worded statement on Facebook on May 6, announcing the immediate termination of Donald’s employment.
He wrote: “Due to recent events regarding one of our former employees, I can confirm Logan Donald has been released with immediate effect.
He will no longer be near my house or involved in any discos.
We are horrified and disgusted by what we have read, and all this information had been withheld from us.
Hall emphasized the personal trauma, saying: “We are sickened.
We allowed him near our children and grandchildren, and I can’t get over the fact that I let him do children’s parties for me.
I feel physically sick.
He was in my house while my wife was asleep, and I was out gigging elsewhere.” The controversy surrounding Donald’s employment and subsequent criminal charges has cast a shadow over the reputation of D3mon Discos.
Hall, now 51, founded the company in 2016 after taking on Donald as a trainee in 2019, reportedly after his grandmother requested he gain work experience.
Despite claims of conducting a background check, Hall admitted that he was unaware of the extent of Donald’s criminal behavior until the articles were published.
During the court hearing, the prosecution outlined Donald’s extensive online misconduct.
Communications with the first victim began in January 2020 via Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
The victim described Donald as “nice to talk to” and was drawn into a 12-week online relationship in which he declared his love daily.
She expressed concern for his welfare and, under pressure, sent a naked picture of her chest.
When she refused to send more images, Donald threatened suicide, sending a video of himself near a bridge, which led her to believe he had taken his own life for a week.
The second victim, also beginning contact with Donald in January 2020 on Snapchat, was coerced into sending images of herself in a swimsuit.
Feeling guilty, she sent a photograph of herself in her underwear.
Donald responded by sending explicit images of himself in return.
The third girl, contacted through TikTok in May 2020, was repeatedly asked for naked pictures.
When she finally complied, Donald demanded more, threatening to post her images publicly if she refused, prompting her to involve her parents and police.
Law enforcement also recovered videos that depicted Donald engaged with underage girls, including footage taken with mobile phones.
Disturbingly, some videos showed FaceTime calls where girls under 18 exposed themselves and engaged in sexual acts while Donald watched and performed a sexual act himself.
A victim impact statement from the first girl detailed the long-lasting trauma inflicted by Donald.
She described developing an eating disorder, suffering nightmares, fearing to leave her home, and experiencing a decline in her academic performance.
Donald has admitted to offenses committed between January 2020 and October 2021, during which he was aged between 14 and 16.
His charges include possession of indecent images of children and threats to distribute such images.
His crimes took place at locations including his residence in East Lothian, as well as in Midlothian and Edinburgh.
Donald has been placed on the sex offenders’ register, and his sentencing is scheduled for May 24, as the court determines the appropriate punishment for his grave misconduct.
