Peebles Domestic Abuser
Logan Ashworth, a 22-year-old from Peebles, has been fined £400 after sending threatening messages to his former partner, which included threats of violence against her new partner and her father. Ashworth pleaded guilty to the charge at Selkirk Sheriff Court for messages sent on January 15.
Prosecutor Drew Long explained that the couple's relationship ended in January 2023, after which the woman blocked Ashworth's calls. However, in January this year, she unblocked his number. Despite this, Ashworth began sending messages regarding their relationship; these messages became increasingly abusive, with threats insisting she respond and threats directed at her new boyfriend and her father.
Defence lawyer Liam Alexander acknowledged that the messages were “not pleasant.” Besides the fine, Ashworth was ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge.
