KILLER GETS 7 YEARS FOR KILLING PARTNER OF 25 YEARS
A GREENOCK woman has been jailed for seven years for killing her partner who 'ground her down' and pushed her to the end of her tether.
Linda McGhee, 53, was last month convicted of stabbing her partner of 25 years, Ian Tannock, to death in their Shore Street flat on 7 March last year.
The High Court in Glasgow heard how the former Inverclyde Council carer was pushed to breaking point by alcoholic Mr Tannock, 48, who also abused her.
After initially being charged with murder, the jury found her guilty of the lesser charge of culpable homicide.
Delivering sentence Lord Kinclaven said: 'I have taken into account your age, personal circumstances and health issues, and the fact that you originally faced a charge of murder.
'She is just an ordinary, decent human being who got caught up in tragic circumstances.'
