LINCOLN CLARKE FROM HIGHBRIDGE SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS FOR CHILD RAPE
In a case that has shocked the community of Highbridge, Lincoln Clarke, a 52-year-old resident of Three Yards Court, was convicted of heinous crimes involving the sexual assault of a minor.The incident, which took place in the vicinity of Highbridge, led to Clarke's arrest in May following the attack.
During the proceedings at Taunton Crown Court, it was revealed that Clarke maintained his innocence throughout the trial, despite the evidence presented.
The court found him guilty on two counts of raping a child and one count of inciting or causing a child to engage in sexual activity.
These serious charges underscore the gravity of the offense and the breach of trust involved.
Following his conviction, Clarke was sentenced to a substantial term of 15 years in prison.
Additionally, he was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely, a measure designed to monitor his activities and prevent further harm.
The court also imposed restrictions on his employment prospects, explicitly prohibiting him from working with young people once he is released from incarceration.
Clarke’s defense attorney, Nadeem Aullybocus, highlighted that his client had attempted to take his own life while in custody last May.
Aullybocus also emphasized that Clarke had a history of good character prior to these allegations, attempting to provide context for his client’s background.
Despite these arguments, the court upheld the verdict, emphasizing the severity of the crimes committed and the need for public safety.
