LIAM WARLOW SHOCKINGLY CAUGHT FILMING TEEN IN SWANSEA WATERPARK CHANGING ROOMS
A 27-year-old man from Swansea, Liam Warlow, narrowly avoided imprisonment after admitting to secretly filming a teenage girl undressing in a unisex changing area. The incident took place at LC Swansea waterpark, a popular leisure destination in south Wales, where Warlow was caught attempting to record the girl using his mobile phone.
According to court reports, Warlow had been loitering near the entrance of a cubicle in the waterpark’s changing rooms.
CCTV footage revealed that he had just finished changing when he noticed the young girl and subsequently entered the cubicle adjacent to hers.
The footage further showed Warlow lingering in the doorway before the incident, and then running out of the leisure centre once he was discovered by the girl, who had seen his phone and kicked it away.
During police questioning, Warlow claimed that he had dropped his phone, which had apparently started recording automatically.
However, Swansea Crown Court was told that this explanation was implausible, and the court viewed the evidence as clear indication of his intent.
Judge Geraint Walters expressed his disappointment, stating, “Most people would expect me to send you to prison,” after Warlow pleaded guilty to observing a private act for sexual gratification.
The court heard that Warlow had deliberately positioned himself in the changing area, including using a mirror to observe the girl, until she entered a cubicle.
CCTV footage confirmed that he was seen running out of the premises immediately after the girl confronted him.
The judge emphasized that Warlow’s actions were purposeful, noting, “Having set eyes upon her, you quite purposefully, and with a fair degree of determination, hung about in the changing area - including viewing her through a mirror at one stage - until she entered a cubicle.
The phone was plainly recording.” Warlow’s past criminal record includes convictions for burglary and cannabis possession from 2013.
When questioned by police, he claimed he could not remember the passcode to his phone’s private area, but the judge dismissed this as unlikely.
In sentencing on December 20, Judge Walters sentenced Warlow to six months in prison, suspended for two years.
Additionally, he ordered Warlow to participate in a 43-day programme aimed at addressing his issues related to filming in public for sexual gratification, along with 45 days of general rehabilitation.
The court also mandated that Warlow be placed on the sex offenders register and subject to a sexual harm prevention order for a period of seven years, reflecting the seriousness of his misconduct and its potential impact on his future.
