LIAM NETHERTON FROM FLIXBOROUGH AND WIGAN SENTENCED TO SIX AND A HALF YEARS FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST A TEENAGER

In a recent court ruling, Liam Netherton, a 28-year-old man with ties to Flixborough and Wigan, has been sentenced to a substantial prison term of six and a half years for serious sexual offences committed against a minor.

The sentencing took place on Tuesday, 11 July, at Grimsby Crown Court, following a comprehensive five-day trial during which a jury found him guilty of five counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child under the age of 15.

Details of the case reveal that Netherton, who resides on Lancaster Road in Wigan but was formerly from Flixborough in North Lincolnshire, targeted a teenage girl over a period spanning from October 2018 to January 2019.

His actions were driven by a disturbing intent to manipulate and exploit the young victim, with the apparent goal of fulfilling his own sexual desires.

Throughout the trial, evidence was presented that demonstrated Netherton’s calculated efforts to gain the trust of the girl, which ultimately led to the sexual offences.

In addition to his prison sentence, Netherton was also handed a sexual harm prevention order, which aims to restrict his future conduct and prevent any further harm.
