LIAM FORBES FROM HAWICK FINED FOR ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR TOWARD PARTNER IN SELKIRK
In a recent court case held at Selkirk Sheriff Court, Liam Forbes, a 23-year-old resident of Hawick, faced serious allegations of abusive conduct directed towards his former partner.The incident, which took place over a span of nearly three weeks from January 5 to January 22, culminated in Forbes admitting guilt to the charges brought against him.
The court heard that Forbes had engaged in a pattern of abusive behavior during this period, prompting the legal proceedings.
His defense lawyer, Mat Patrick, acknowledged the deterioration of the relationship, describing it as increasingly toxic before its eventual end.
The lawyer emphasized that the relationship was now over, and the court was informed of the circumstances surrounding the case.
As a result of his guilty plea, Liam Forbes was ordered to pay a fine of £600.
In addition to this financial penalty, the court imposed a £40 victim surcharge, which is standard in such cases to support victim services.
Furthermore, a three-year non-harassment order was issued, explicitly prohibiting Forbes from making any contact with his former partner, aiming to prevent further incidents or harassment.
In a separate matter, Forbes was also fined an additional £100 for breaching bail conditions previously set by the court.
