LIAM COCHRANE FROM GLASGOW SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR THREATENING INVERKEITHING WOMAN AND HER CHILDREN

A 31-year-old man named Liam Cochrane, residing on Grandtuilly Drive in Glasgow, has been sentenced to prison after making serious threats to kill and rape an Inverkeithing woman and her children. Cochrane, who had previously avoided jail despite making vile threats, breached his monitoring tag and is now incarcerated following a sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted to engaging in abusive behavior toward his former partner between June 1, 2020, and July 28, 2022, in Inverkeithing and elsewhere. During this period, Cochrane repeatedly shouted, swore, and issued threats of violence against her, her family, and her children. He persisted in contacting her via phone and social media to threaten her life, rape, and arson, even threatening to harm her relatives.

The relationship began online, and after Cochrane moved into her home in Inverkeithing with her and her two children, they eventually split up. Despite their separation, he continued sending threatening messages, including graphic threats of murder, sexual assault, and arson. He even claimed to have paid £5,000 for a 'hit' on her.

In June, Cochrane was sentenced to a nine-month restriction of liberty order but subsequently breached it. Sheriff Susan Duff sentenced him to six months in jail for that breach. His conduct and threats were repeated and severe, with police recordings capturing his threatening calls where he made explicit threats to kill, rape, and harm her and her family, highlighting a pattern of violent and abusive behavior.
