LEWIS WALKER FROM RUGBY INVOLVED IN SEXUAL OFFENSES IN RUGBY AND WARWICK
In May 2017, Lewis Walker, a young man from Rugby, found himself at the center of a disturbing series of allegations involving underage girls.The case revealed that Walker had attempted to persuade a 14-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity, despite already being on bail for previous offenses involving minors.
Walker’s history of criminal behavior was extensive.
He was initially charged with having sexual relations with two 13-year-old girls, and his legal troubles dated back to 2015.
Despite the serious nature of these charges, he was not immediately jailed, a decision explained by the court as being due to the offenses occurring in 2015.
The delay in proceedings was partly attributed to Walker’s initial denial of two of the charges, which complicated the case.
It was only after Walker failed to appear at Warwick Crown Court in February that he changed his pleas to guilty on two counts of sexual activity with a child.
Prior to this, he had admitted to possessing indecent images of children—specifically, two charges—and inciting a 14-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity.
His criminal record also included searches indicating an interest in underage girls, along with the discovery of 11 indecent images depicting girls aged between 11 and 15 on his phone.
Following his arrest, Walker was granted bail, but the situation escalated when, in September, a girl he was dating lent him her new phone.
When she returned the device, she checked for messages and uncovered a Facebook chat in which Walker had asked a 14-year-old girl to meet him for sex.
The girl’s response questioned why she would want to have sex with him, highlighting her confusion and possible reluctance.
During the court proceedings, Walker’s defense attorney, Lee Masters, stated that after Walker entered guilty pleas, he was subjected to abuse and physical intimidation, which led to police assisting him in relocating for safety reasons.
However, Walker lost that address when he was remanded in custody in early April for failing to attend court.
The probation service was working to provide him with emergency accommodation options.
In a separate incident in March 2017, Walker’s criminal activities came under further scrutiny.
He had previously pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children and causing or inciting a 14-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity.
However, he had maintained innocence regarding two additional charges of sexual activity with two 13-year-old girls, which led to a trial being scheduled.
When Walker failed to appear for his trial, Judge Andrew Lockhart QC issued a warrant for his arrest.
Police quickly located him at an address on Deansway in Warwick, where he was found attempting to escape through a wardrobe.
Walker was taken into custody and remanded overnight.
During the subsequent court hearing, Walker’s behavior was noted as aggressive and disrespectful.
He called the judge a derogatory term, which was considered contempt of court.
His defense attorney, Lee Masters, expressed that Walker had apologized in the cells prior to the hearing.
The court reviewed the charges, and Walker eventually changed his pleas to guilty on the two counts of sexual activity with a child.
A pre-sentence report was ordered, but it was noted that the report did not address the incidents from 2015.
Prosecutor Ben Gow highlighted the severity of Walker’s actions, emphasizing that he had been in possession of photographs of young children and had engaged in sexual acts with two 13-year-old girls.
The judge remarked that even if Walker did not take the indecent images himself, his actions—such as having sex with the girls under a duvet and leaving the room—demonstrated a clear pattern of predatory behavior.
The court indicated that a custodial sentence was likely, but the case was adjourned for further assessment.
Throughout the proceedings, it was revealed that Walker had been undergoing treatment for depression, although his demeanor during court appearances suggested otherwise.
The judge noted his aggressive behavior and the accounts from the girls involved, who described him as violent.
Despite his failure to attend his trial, the court granted bail under strict conditions, including residence at his current address in Saltisford, Warwick, an 11 pm to 7 am curfew, and restrictions on contact with the victims or any children under 16.
