LEWIS LAMB CAUGHT IN TURSDALE: PREDATOR SENTENCED FOR ATTEMPTED CHILD LURE IN COUNTY DURHAM
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community, Lewis Lamb, a man with a troubling history of predatory behavior, was sentenced to seven years in prison for attempting to lure underage girls into his vehicle in County Durham. The incident took place in the small town of Tursdale, where Lamb’s actions have now led to a significant legal crackdown. On the dates of June 30 and July 2 of the previous year, Lamb was observed engaging in suspicious activity along the roadside in Ferryhill and Chilton, both located within County Durham. The police reports reveal that Lamb, who was at the time managing a nightclub in Newcastle called Diamond’s—a well-known establishment in the area—was actively trying to entice young girls aged 12 and 14 into his Volkswagen Passat. Despite his professional role, Lamb’s conduct was far from appropriate, and his actions demonstrated a clear intent to prey on vulnerable minors.
According to court proceedings, Lamb approached the girls under the guise of seeking directions to Ferryhill Station, inquiring whether it was a separate village and if a railway station existed there. His tactics appeared calculated, aiming to gain the girls’ trust through seemingly innocent questions. In one troubling incident, one of the girls was persuaded to get into Lamb’s car. During this brief ride, Lamb made inappropriate advances by placing his hand on her upper leg and attempting to kiss her. The girl, however, managed to resist his advances and quickly exited the vehicle.
Lamb, aged 39 and balding, falsely identified himself as “Danny Lee White,” claiming to be a 24-year-old IT technician from Essex. He provided the girl with his phone number before she fled the scene. The police were alerted to the incidents, and when they contacted the number Lamb had given, he answered as ‘Danny’. Recognizing the police, Lamb discarded his phone in a fast-food restaurant bin in Essex, attempting to evade detection. However, days later, Lamb was arrested at his residence on Ramsay Street in Tursdale, near Durham.
During the investigation, Lamb denied all allegations, maintaining his innocence and pleading ‘not guilty’ to charges of child abduction, attempted abduction, and sexual assault. At the time of his trial in May, Lamb was working as a trainee manager for an amusement company. The court heard that Lamb’s history of predatory behavior extended beyond these incidents; in 2010, he was issued a harassment notice after trying to lure a 16-year-old girl into his car in Gateshead, following her onto a bus.
The prosecution presented evidence that Lamb’s actions were carefully planned and executed with malicious intent. The jury, after a five-day trial, unanimously found Lamb guilty on all three counts. Character references were introduced during the proceedings, including a testimonial from Lamb’s twin brother, who is a serving police officer. The brother spoke of Lamb’s “ability to charm” people, attempting to paint a more sympathetic picture despite the serious charges.
Judge Christopher Prince delivered a stern judgment, describing Lamb as “a predator” and “a liar.” He emphasized the danger Lamb posed to young girls and the importance of protecting minors from such individuals. Lamb was sentenced to seven years in prison and was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register. Additionally, he was placed under a lifelong sexual offences prevention order, which prohibits him from having unsupervised contact with females under the age of 16. This case underscores the ongoing need for vigilance and protective measures against predators operating within communities like Tursdale and across County Durham.
