NOTTINGHAM MAN JAILED FOR STALKING AND THREATS AFTER SENDING EXPLICIT PHOTO

A stalker sent text threats that he would kill a woman - and followed up with a nude snap of her.

He claimed it would "go everywhere" and asked if he should put it on Facebook, Nottingham Crown Court heard.

While making the threats, Lewis Johnson also attacked the woman's car and will now be locked up for 10 months.

Recorder Jason Macadam told him: "The message must go out that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated.

Very serious distress was caused to the victim." The court heard that Johnson used an early message to threaten the Langley Mill woman.

He added: "I'll do time." Later, he told the woman that he was going to "smash her car," saying: "My head is not normal," said Lucky Thandi, prosecuting.

Another message warned: "You're not safe." Shortly after, a neighbour knocked on her door to report that the rear window of her car had just been broken.

Soon another message arrived, reading: "I smashed your back window to smithereens.

I will come for you next." On one day, the woman received 30 messages over WhatsApp, said Miss Thandi.

Johnson then sent the nude picture to the woman's sister with the comment that it would "go everywhere" and "asked whether it should go to Facebook," said Miss Thandi.

The woman later told police that the offences had disrupted training she was undertaking, adding: "He is on social media humiliating me and my family." Car repairs cost £500.

Ben Robinson, mitigating, said that Johnson had been deeply upset by the death of his father and committed the text offences while sitting alone at home.

"He started to use alcohol to cope with the issues which occurred in his life.

Sometimes he drank a litre of whisky a day to blank things out," said Mr Robinson.

Johnson had been setting up a waste disposal firm but because this was just getting started, "there were days when he had nothing to do," added Mr Robinson.

After serving ten months in prison, Johnson, 37, of Ormonde Street, Heanor must spend ten months on probation.

He had never been in trouble before.

He admitted stalking; harassment; disclosing a private sexual photograph.

He must not contact the woman for a decade.
