LEWIS FISHER OF HARTLEPOOL SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS FOR SEXUAL OFFENCE, TEESSIDE
Lewis Fisher, 28, from Hartlepool, initially denied the offence when police were quickly alerted. However, forensic tests on swabs taken from the girl eventually provided DNA evidence that led to his prosecution, Teesside Crown Court was told.
Shaun Dodds, the prosecutor, read a victim impact statement on her behalf, in which she said: "I can't trust anyone, I don't feel safe.
I feel traumatised and it will be forever." She also expressed feeling as though her claims were initially disbelieved and that she was being punished for something not her fault.
Michele Turner, defending Fisher, stated: "He now has an understanding of the impact of what he has done.
There are understandably concerns that left the court justified.
He accepts that his family will have to serve any sentence with him." Judge Chris Smith highlighted that Fisher's victim was vulnerable due to prior difficulties and was exploited by him.
When passing sentence, Judge Smith commented: "When you were arrested, you denied doing the offence, but the scientific evidence supported her, and you had the good sense to plead guilty.
The impact upon her has been very substantial, partly because she was initially disbelieved." Fisher, a carer residing on Kesteven Road, was sentenced to five years in prison.
Additionally, he will be monitored for life under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be a registered sex offender for life, following his guilty plea to engaging in sexual activity with a child.
