LEVI STEWART OF KELTY SENTENCED FOR DOMESTIC ASSAULT IN DUNFERMLINE

On Hogmanay, Levi Stewart, a resident of Kelty, was involved in an assault on his ex-partner during a dispute related to an underage drinker.

The incident occurred after the couple had rekindled their relationship following a breakup the previous June.

Prosecutor Azrah Yousaf explained that Stewart hit the woman in the face, injuring her left eye and causing her to bleed from her mouth.

Testimony revealed that the assault took place around 10:15 PM at their shared home while alcohol was being consumed.

After the attack, the woman was left upset and called for help, which prompted a police response.

Stewart, however, fled the scene before officers arrived but was later detained on January 20.

At Dunfermline Sheriff Court, Stewart pleaded guilty to domestic assault charges.

His defense lawyer, Stephen Morrison, explained that Stewart’s reaction was triggered by concerns over a relative of his ex-partner who was underage and drinking alcohol.

Morrison also noted the irony that Stewart himself had consumed a significant amount of alcohol during the incident.

Sheriff Krista Johnston expressed her concern about Stewart’s conduct and sentenced him to 80 hours of unpaid work.

She also mandated that he complete the Caledonian programme to address domestic violence and imposed a one-year contact restriction from the victim.
