Hartlepool man Levi Martin jailed for violent assault on woman

A woman was subjected to a brutal assault in Hartlepool when Levi Martin, aged 27, attacked her multiple times, striking her repeatedly before pushing her down the stairs. Police responded to a reported assault at a residence in Hartlepool during the early hours of January 20. After a disagreement, Martin caused significant injuries to the woman, including a large laceration to the back of her head and bruising across her body, by hitting her multiple times and forcibly throwing her down the stairs. A resident of Hartlepool, Martin was quickly charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent. He appeared in court and admitted to the charges. On October 10, at Teesside Crown Court, Martin received a prison sentence of three years and two months. Detective James Smith from the Domestic Abuse Unit described the attack as highly violent and emphasized its potential to leave long-lasting effects on the victim. He added that the police are committed to taking decisive action and have trained officers ready to assist victims throughout the investigation and legal proceedings.
