Torquay Child Abuser
A sexual predator who abused a young boy over a period of nine years has been sentenced to six years and nine months in prison. Leslie Retallick, from Queensway in Torquay, pleaded guilty to multiple counts of non-recent sexual abuse of a child committed between 1999 and 2008. The court heard that 73-year-old Retallick encouraged his victim to watch pornography and insisted on secrecy to avoid detection. The abuse included taking the boy on trips where exposure to pornography continued. Retallick's crimes were uncovered when he was found to have downloaded child abuse material. Investigating officer DC Jake Woodbridge stated, “Leslie Retallick is a sexual predator who for many years preyed on and abused a young boy.” He was ultimately jailed for his offenses on October 14. The judge remarked, “We are glad justice has finally been done, and he is now serving time in prison for his crimes.” The officer also expressed gratitude to the victim and confirmed ongoing efforts to investigate child sexual abuse reports.
