MANCHESTER MAN JAILED FOR MANSLAUGHTER OF MOTHER
In Manchester, Leroy Panton was convicted of manslaughter after he killed his mother, Hyacinth Morris, at their family home in Levenshulme.Ms Morris, who was 67 years old, was attacked on 7 May 2020, an assault that resulted in her death.
Panton admitted to the charges, citing diminished responsibility as the basis in court.
The judge sentenced him to a prison term of six years and eight months.
Members of the family shared their grief through a statement, describing their heartbreak over the loss of Hyacinth, who was a loving sister, aunt, and daughter.
They expressed their deep sadness and wished she and Leroy could have shared their feelings more openly.
The family also acknowledged Leroy's mental health struggles, stating that mental illness is often something people hide due to embarrassment.
They expressed empathy, saying Leroy was suffering more than they could imagine and was not in his right mind at the time.
The police discovered Ms Morris’s body after a concerned relative reported her missing.
Autopsy results revealed her death was not natural, and forensic analysis identified Leroy Panton as responsible for her death.
