LEROY ALLEN SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS IN DURHAM FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING YOUNG GIRLS
A man named Leroy Allen, who targeted two young girls in Durham and manipulated them into engaging in sexual activities, has been sentenced to a total of eight years in prison. The case was heard at Durham Crown Court, where Allen admitted to nine charges related to sexual activity with a minor on the second day of his trial.
The court proceedings revealed disturbing details about Allen’s predatory behavior.
Prosecutor Paul Cleasby explained that Allen exerted significant pressure on one of the girls to have sex with him.
It was disclosed that Allen had initially used alcohol to intoxicate the girl before taking her virginity.
Despite her pleas for him to stop and her clear indication that she no longer wished to continue the sexual encounter, Allen did not respect her wishes.
Instead, he allegedly coerced her into having sex with him on multiple subsequent occasions.
Further evidence presented in court indicated that Allen would often seize the girl’s mobile phone, effectively controlling her communication and actions.
This pattern of manipulation and control persisted until the girl eventually broke down emotionally and confided in a friend about what had been happening.
However, Allen reportedly begged her to keep their secret, and she complied for some time.
The situation changed in 2017 when the girl learned that Allen, who resided at Rutherford Court, Willington, had been imprisoned for grooming other young girls.
This revelation prompted her to come forward with her own experiences.
A second girl also stepped forward, revealing that she had been manipulated by Allen as well.
Police investigations uncovered text messages in which Allen complained that the second girl’s sex drive was “miniscule,” highlighting his controlling attitude.
Both victims provided victim personal statements during the trial.
One described her life as a “nightmare,” which led to suicidal thoughts and a diagnosis of depression.
The other girl also shared that she had undergone therapy for depression and that her academic performance had suffered due to the stress caused by Allen’s actions.
It was also revealed that Allen had a prior conviction from December 2016, when he was sentenced to one year in prison for attempting to incite an underage child to engage in sexual activity and for trying to facilitate a child sex act.
During that earlier incident, he posed as the manager of the Durham nightclub Jimmy Allens and solicited underage girls to send him pictures of themselves in underwear or bikinis, claiming it was for potential hostess roles.
Mitigating for Allen, lawyer Dan Cordy, stated that his client’s time in prison had allowed him to mature.
He referenced a psychological report describing Allen as a “troubled young man” who was living out a “fantasy life.” Cordy expressed that Allen, a former Nissan production line worker, wished to apologize sincerely to both the victims and his family.
The presiding judge, Recorder Euan Duff, sentenced Allen to eight years in prison.
Throughout the hearing, Allen was visibly emotional, crying as he received his sentence.
Additionally, the judge imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that will remain in effect until further notice.
It was also announced that Allen will be registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions related to his conduct.
