WEMBLEY MAN JAILED FOR MANSLAUGHTER OF GIRLFRIEND
Leonidas Georgalla, aged 51, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the death of his girlfriend, Kathleen John, who fell two storeys to her death in north-west London. He was originally charged with murder but later admitted to manslaughter, a plea accepted by prosecutors.
Kathleen John was found by emergency crews on a pathway next to her flat in Wembley early on July 29, 2022.
Detective Inspector John Marriott described Georgalla as a 'danger to women.' When police entered the residence, they discovered bloodstains and broken items, indicating a disturbance had taken place.
Georgalla was outside the property when emergency services arrived and was detained at the scene.
A post-mortem examination indicated that Kathleen John’s injuries were consistent with both assault and injuries sustained during her fall.
It was also revealed that a restraining order had been issued against Georgalla for earlier domestic violence incidents.
He refused to answer questions following his arrest and was sentenced on a Friday.
After serving his prison sentence, he will be subject to a five-year supervisory period.
Detective Marriott said, 'We will probably never fully understand how Kathleen ended up falling from her flat, but the post-mortem confirms she had suffered assault injuries shortly before her death.
While Leonidas has admitted his role in her death, it brings little solace to Kathleen’s family and friends.'
