LEON PAWLICA'S SHOCKING CRIME ON LONDON TRAIN: SEXUAL ASSAULT AT CRYSTAL PALACE STATION
In a disturbing incident that took place on a busy London train, a man named Leon Pawlica, aged 59 and without a fixed address, was convicted of sexually assaulting a woman during rush hour.The assault occurred on the morning of May 22, 2019, shortly after 8:30 am, as the train traveled from London Victoria to West Croydon.
According to court records, Pawlica had consumed approximately half a litre of vodka before boarding the train.
His intoxicated state did not deter him from approaching the female passenger, attempting to initiate a conversation.
The woman, feeling increasingly uncomfortable with his advances, moved away to distance herself from him.
Despite her discomfort, Pawlica persisted and even tried to engage another woman on the train.
The situation escalated when the train reached Crystal Palace station.
As the victim prepared to disembark, Pawlica, in a shocking act of sexual misconduct, lifted her skirt and sexually assaulted her.
The woman immediately challenged him, and Pawlica followed her off the train and through the station, continuing his unwanted advances.
Concerned for her safety, the victim sought assistance from station staff, who promptly contacted the police.
Law enforcement officers responded quickly, arresting Pawlica nearby after a search of the surrounding area.
During police interviews, Pawlica displayed no remorse.
He initially claimed that he was too intoxicated to remember the incident.
When pressed further, he accused the victim of provoking the assault, stating that her legs were open, implying she was partly responsible for the incident.
On September 25, 2019, at the City of London Magistrates’ Court, Pawlica was found guilty of sexual assault.
The judge sentenced him to 20 weeks in prison.
Additionally, he was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for seven years, pay £775 in CPS costs, and was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that prohibits him from carrying open alcohol and sitting next to or opposite a lone female on public transport.
