July 2020 Four years jail for man who ‘groomed and manipulated’ schoolgirl A 37-year-old Gwynedd man had “groomed and manipulated” a child before sexual intercourse took place, a judge said on Thursday when he jailed the pervert for four years. Leon Owen, of Chapel Street, Porthmadog, received a sexual harm prevention order and must register as a sex offender. He admitted admitted penetrative sexual activity with a girl under 16. Owen, who used to live in Barmouth, was also made the subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention order and will remain on the sex offenders register for life. Judge Nicola Jones at Caernarfon crown court told him: “Your attitude towards the offending is extremely concerning. You have a lack of victim empathy.” Defence barrister Elen Owen said he was now in a relationship with a woman who was aware of this case.
